Thank you so much for maintaining this page,and I am also so lucky to found this right on time,just exactly when I needed this the most;
Really great work,specially because this is such a thing which is so important yet doesn’t attracts much attention from too many people and hence is rarely taken up with such authenticity. Thanks for everything.
I’m not too sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I’m riding to leh from manali on the 14th of june (next month), what’s the weather like, around that time? As in, any chances of snowfalls, road closures etc on the manali-leh highway in June? Also is there a way to go to lahaul-spiti valley from leh without having to get to manali first?
Summerish , I´d say … but maybe you should keep in mind that I live three hundred klicks south of the Arctic Circle 😉 Seriously though , you´ll probably be surprised just how warm it is daytime in the sun – and just how quickly the temperature drops in the shadow.
In ´06 you had a cold spell in June : I would call this very rare , but yes , possible.
Going to Spiti from Leh is easy , only requirement is time : take the Leh-Manali road , drop off at Koksar , at the northern base of the Rothang La , take the bus along the Chandra river and over the Kunzum La : you´re in Spiti. The road takes you further on to Kaza , Tabo etc in Spiti, onwards thru Kinnaur , ending in Shimla. All easily done with public buses.

We are planning to go to leh via manali route, if any one is interested to go leh via a shared vehicle please let me know.
The date is 13th of June (manali)
We’re planning a trip to Leh from Manali in the first week of July. Would like to know how we could hire a Sumo/ Qualis and how much it would cost.
